Commonly called the Lion's head or Lion's mane maple, 'Shishigashira' is the most common member of a group of semi dwarf Japanese maple with tightly congested leaves.  The leaves are closely spaced on the branches in certain spots, and they are slightly curled and folded.  The result is a puffy appearance.
